One of the world's most successful entrepreneurs and a retired director of the Zappos company, Toni Hsie, passed away yesterday , and on December 12, he would have turned 47 years old.
He retired in August this year, after a full two decades spent at a clothing and footwear company in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA). According to world media, Hsie succumbed to injuries sustained in the house fire.
Before he joined Zappos, ie. at the then "ShoeSite.com", in 1999, when the company was founded, Hsieh co-founded the "LinkExchange" network, which he sold in 1998 to Microsoft, for 265 million dollars .
Zappos was sold to Amazon in 2009, for $ 1.2 billion , but Hsie remained with the company until his retirement. Those who knew him say that his "generosity and kindness" touched everyone around him.
He left behind a net fortune worth 840 million dollars .
