The Italian coach is more than ready to humour the Swedish star's potential interest in a return to Serie A

Carlo Ancelotti joked he will call Zlatan Ibrahimovic about a move to Napoli following Saturday's 2-0 win over Hellas Verona.

LA Galaxy superstar Ibrahimovic talked up his chances of a return to Serie A as the 38-year-old expressed his interest in playing for Ancelotti's Napoli.

Former Juventus, Inter and AC Milan striker Ibrahimovic claimed he would score 20 goals a season in Italy's top flight during an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

Responding to Ibrahimovic's comments after Arkadiusz Milik's double guided Napoli past Verona, head coach Ancelotti revealed his plans to get in touch with the Swede.

"I'll call him tonight and say we're waiting!" Ancelotti told Sky Sport Italia .

"I have a great deal of affection for him, I saw he scored 29 goals in 30 MLS games. Tomorrow, after I've called him, I'll let you know how it went!"
Ibrahimovic and the Galaxy are in action in the MLS play-offs on Sunday.

The Galaxy will meet Minnesota United for a spot in the Western Conference semi-finals against Supporters' Shield champions Los Angeles FC.

Ibrahimovic netted 30 goals during the regular season, four adrift of top scorer and LAFC captain Carlos Vela.

Ex-Manchester United star Ibrahimovic is out of contract at the end of the season and the veteran has been linked with a return to Italy, as well as Argentine giants Boca Juniors – where Roma great Daniele De Rossi is based.

As he looks to decide his next step, the former Juve striker recently revealed playing at Napoli does hold a certain attraction.

"I enjoyed the documentary dedicated to Maradona, no one is like him. Seeing the love of that city would almost make me want to try an experience at Napoli," Ibrahimovic told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It would be fantastic to replicate what Diego did. I'm not saying that I will go there, the final decision will depend on several factors, but that is a team that creates enthusiasm.

"With me, the San Paolo would be full every Sunday. And then there's Carlo Ancelotti, a great coach."

Arsenal want rid of ex-Germany man

Arsenal's priority in the next two transfer windows will be to sell Mesut Ozil, the Mirror reports.

The Gunners want to rid themselves of the ex-Germany international's £350,000-per-week salary, but would be happy to pay some of his wages if he were to be offloaded on loan.
There is increasing uncertainty over Mauricio Pochettino's future

Tottenham have made contact with Jose Mourinho, according to Soccer Link.

Mauricio Pochettino is under fire in north London after Tottenham have made a poor start to the season, despite investing heavily in the squad this summer.

Though Pochettino isn't on the verge of losing his job yet, Spurs have reached out to Mourinho to gauge his interest in the position.
Mauro Icardi says that Romelu Lukaku will come good at Inter, despite enduring a trying period at San Siro.

The 26-year-old completed a big-money summer move from Manchester United but after scoring three times in his first four Serie A outings he has been less impressive since, going three without finding the target.

Icardi, who well knows the pressure of playing for the Nerazzurri having been on their books since 2013, has backed the Belgium international to end this mini-drought and prove a success.

“It doesn’t seem to me that he’s experiencing a moment of difficulty,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport. “In fact, I think he’s started well, scoring a couple of goals immediately.

“Then he got injured and maybe this raised the usual criticisms because Lukaku represents a big investment for the team, was strongly supported by Antonio Conte and must live up to expectations.

“But it’s not easy for anyone to play in Italy. Serie A is the most defensive championship in Europe. Maybe he needs a little more time to settle in, but he’s already scored a lot of goals in his career. And he will do it again.

“It happens to everyone, that you go through a less brilliant moment. Then when you get out of it, you don’t stop.”

Icardi, meanwhile, finds himself on loan at Paris Saint-Germain this season, and having netted one goal in two Ligue 1 outings, is not looking to resolve his long-term future at this point.

“This year, I’m at PSG and my goal is to give my best for this shirt. Then at the end of the season, around May or June, we’ll see what happens,” he said. “It’s still too early to say anything.”

Icardi is, however, enjoying being out of the focus of the media.

“I feel good here and I’ve been asked to perform the same role: to score goals, which is what matters most for an attacker and the team,” he said.

“I've always been used to pressure, but I think it helps that we've almost always won. And when you win, it's okay. In Italy, instead, a vicious circle had been created in certain journalistic circles where we always ended up talking a little too much about anything concerning me. This is not the case here in Paris.”

Manchester United are monitoring the development of West Ham’s Declan Rice and are mulling over a significant bid for the midfielder

According to the Mirror, the Red Devils are willing to part with £70 million ($89m) in order to secure Rice’s signature, despite the 20-year-old playing down reports of a move away from the London Stadium.

“I signed a five year contract with West Ham last year, which will keep me at club until I’m 24, and for me this is the best place to be right now,” said Rice.

“I’m improving every week and although I see all this speculation, I don’t really think about it too much. It’s all talk until something happens – and nothing has - so I’m just focussed on West Ham, doing my best and making fans happy.”
Manchester United have spoken to Lyon about the potential transfer of Moussa Dembele, according to journalist Duncan Castles.

“There has been contact between Manchester United and individuals close to Moussa Dembele to assess the player’s interest in the move and to work out what the cost would be in terms of salary,” Castles told the Transfer Window Podcast.

“And also, to get a feel for what it would take to get him out of Lyon. Dembele has been identified by United as a player who could be a top level centre-forward down the line.

“I believe, he would take the risk of moving in the January window. He would be prepared to take that risk for United.”
Paris Saint-Germain are said to be in hopeful that Neymar will sign a contract extension with the club

The Brazilian’s current deal expires in 2022 and after a summer of transfer speculation, Le10Sport claim PSG are now keen to extend Neymar’s current deal.

The 27-year-old’s attitude since returning to the side has made sporting director, Leonardo, reverse his plans to sell the former Barcelona man.

As a result, PSG hope to add an additional two years onto Neymar’s contract, keeping him the club until 2024.
In rewarding his outstanding form this season, Arsenal have started negotiations with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to renew his contract until 2023, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

The Gabonese striker has scored seven goals in eight Premier League matches this season and the Gunners are keen on tying him down with an improved deal.

Aubameyang moved to the Emirates Stadium in 2018 and still has two years left on his present contract.
