President Mohammed Buhari joins other African Leaders to show their support for the President Africa Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwunmi Adesina, in his second term as president of AfDB.
Leaders across Africa have spoken out in support of African Development Bank President Adesina Akinwunmi, whose candidacy for a second term has received widespread backing. A May 22 letter from U.S. Treasury Secretary Mnuchin demanded an investigation into ethics allegations that had already been investigated and found "baseless and unsubstantiated" by a committee on the Board of Directors.
Former African presidents, led by Nigeria's Olusegun Obasanjo, issued a letter calling for all member countries "to respect the rules, procedures and governance structures of the Bank". The first U.S. Representative to the Bank, appointed by President Reagan, has written to Mnuchin in support of Adesina.
According to a source, the reason behind africans rallying round Adesina as the re-elected president of the bank is to retain the leadership of the Organisation to an African, as US have been using all possible means to shove off the power from Africa
