INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu |
State electoral commissioners and national commissioners allege that at the height of the intimidation and harassment they were faced with, they looked up to the national chairman of the commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who was also under intense pressure and massive attack from high profile individuals.
Vanguard sources close to the RECs and national commissioners claim that some of them were held hostage during the February 23rd elections and even
subjected to hoodlums when security personnel attached to them curiously disappeared when their services were most needed.
Another Vanguard source claims that in the far north, the results released did not reflect the actual votes cast, especially in Borno and Zamfara, as a result of military harassment.
