Local Government is too Weak to handle Basic Education - says Former minister
Ex Minister of Sport and Youth development Mr Bolaji Abdullahi, made it known in a statement that the third tiers of government which is the local government is not capable of handling basic education.
The Statement was made at a lecture tagged basic education in Kwara State organised by the Nigerian Union of Teachers(NUT).
He said basic education being the foundation of knowledge acquired shouldn't be placed in the hand of the Local government.
Abdullahi who is the current National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Party (APC) implore the federal government to take the issue of primary education seriously and not with levity, because it's the first stage and first approach to child's knowledge.
He said funding, and necessary amenities are the main reasons why basic education shouldn't be left in the hand of the local government
