Jurgen Klopp's Extends Liverpool's Contract as Manager until 2022.(read more)

Liverpool football club have announced that the former Borrusia Dortmund Coach and present manager of the team, Jürgen Klopp has committed his future to the club by signing a new six-year deal keeping him at Anfield until 2022.

“Liverpool Football Club today announced Jürgen Klopp has committed his long-term future to the Reds by signing an extended contract. Klopp’s senior staff Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz have also lengthened their deals to continue a coaching relationship spanning two decades,”

reads a statement on the club’s official website.
Klopp took charge at Anfield in October 2015 as Brendan Rodgers’ successor and signed a three-year deal, subsequently guiding the Reds to an eighth-place Premier League finish. He also guided Liverpool to the finals of the Capital One Cup and the Europa League last season.

“The move, which was initiated by the club’s ownership, is in recognition of the commitment shown by the German and his staff to developing, improving and ultimately leading a football structure that will bring sustained success.”
The Owners of the club, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) were keen to tie Jurgen Klopp down to Anfield beyond his former deal, which is running until 2018, because of the progress he has made so far in his first nine months in the job.
“The overriding motivation behind this decision is Jürgen’s commitment to overall improvement and development. In Jürgen we have someone who is always looking ahead, always looking beyond his own wants and needs and putting the club first.”

“The ideas and plans he has for the football infrastructure excite us and we believe it benefits the organisation to have Jürgen committed to Liverpool for a sustained period, to make sure he is here to oversee this development. By making this commitment to him, we are taking away any future distractions or doubt. We will move forward in partnership together, with confidence in each other and with the club’s future at the forefront of every decision.”
The terms are confidential, but it is understood Klopp will receive a rise on his £7million per year salary. If reports are true, then it is a record contract for a Liverpool manager. None of Klopp’s predecessors had such offer. It's few managers of many in world football that have the security of such a deal, particularly at the highest level of the game.

Klopp said,
“It’s hard to express in words how honoured myself, Zeljko and Peter feel by the commitment shown in us by the ownership and the club in general. There is much to do and much to achieve and we look to do this by being the most completely together group anywhere in the world. That’s everyone and we all have responsibility for it – all of us who are part of this LFC family: players, staff, ownership and of course the supporters.”
Liverpool play their first game of pre-season on Friday evening at Tranmere and new signings defender Joel Matip, goalkeeper Loris Karius and forward Sadio Mane will all get minutes on the pitch. More signings are expected before the end of the transfer window.
