The Cross River state government has quickly responded to a progression of reports from different media assets around a charged assault on the state governor's office and hostage taking in Calabar on Friday, July 1. Mr. Christian Ita, the SP on media and chief press secretary to Governor Ben Ayade, discharged a disproving and censuring explanation that reads to some extent: "The report is a lamentable sensationalisation of a serene challenge by some ex-activists over their three months unpaid remittances by the government.
Stay cautious! The ex-Militant were not armed thus couldn't have attacked the government house. Or maybe, they were exceptionally thoughtful in their behavior as they looked for gathering of people with the authorities of the state government whom they trusted would take their message to Abuja.
When taken care of, they gently scattered. So it poor people conviction that such a quiet and harmless challenge would be accounted for as an intrusion of the government house. More incredible is the case that the agent senator was held prisoner. No such thing happened."
The report inferred that Cross River remains the most secured state in the nation and asked the media to shun superfluous drama so as not to bring about frenzy among individuals from general society.
