The All Progressives Congress (APC)has condemned the recent call by the President’s wife, Patience Jonathan, that Nigerians should stone those calling for change.According to the APC, the First Lady’s statement is a reflection of the mind of her husband, Goodluck Jonathan.The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, saidthis during an interview with Punch correspondent on March 5, 2015.Mohammed noted in his statement that the call for violence by the President’s wife had given credence to allegations by the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, that First Lady was responsible for the violence at the APC rally in Okrika Local Government last month.The APC spokesperson even assured that the utterance of the President’s wife gave evidence that the Peoples Democratic Party and the President were not ready for violence-free polls.READ ALSO: OPINION: Open Letter To First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan“Governor Amaechi has been justified by the Mrs. Jonathan’s call to violence. She had been making threats that the APC would not hold a rally in Okrika, where she comes from. The PDP and the Presidency are clever in hiding their intentions but the President’s wife is very outspoken.”Patience has also described the APCpresidential candidate,Muhammadu Buhari, as “brain dead” , adding that he is unfit and too old to be the Nigeria’s president.It would be noted that just over a short period, marked by general elections postponement, Mrs. Jonathan has droppedseveral statements that have been tagged asseriously controversial.
